Samantha advice neeeded

I know I've probably told you all a million times about my DD saving for her Samantha. That was almost 12-years ago. About 5 or 6 years ago one of my nieces chewed on Sam's poor nose. It has several tiny bite marks on it. I am really tempted to send her to the doll hospital for a new head, but only a pre-mattel head.

My DD is afraid to send her...afraid she'll get lost in the mail, or whatever. I'm afraid that if we don't take care of it, AG will eventually run out of those pre-Mattel heads.

The other worry is that she will come back with a post mattel head. That would break DD's heart. I would put notes on her box, but there still must be a certain degree of risk that they won't put the correct type of head on her?

Anybody got any advice as to what we should do? [img]confused.gif[/img]

People have posted that they save the old head of a while, so if you get the doll back and are unhappy with it, you can send it back and get the old head back. So I'd go for it.

I sent my Kirsten to the doll hospital years ago to have her head replaced (when I was younger, I cut her hair because it was so frizzy). She arrived home safe and sound. You can also take insurance out on the doll so in case she gets lost, you can be compensated, but I know it's not the same as having the original doll.

I would send her in with a note telling them that you would like a pre-mattel head for Samantha. Even add your phone number so they can call you if there is a problem. I remember someone on this board did that and they called her about it.
I sent in my Molly for a new head back in June and she got a pre-mattel head. I even made sure to ask that her head be attached with the string not the plastic which has happened to some people here.
Give it a try though.
